Leaf Spring Clamping Tips

Helps stiffen the spring and keeps them from spreading apart as the rear bends up.

Here's a small example of what these clamps do for you. You can see from the picture the pass. side top leaf spring is beginning to separate from the rest of the pack. With the use of the clamps, the rear end has to bend ALL the leafs in order to bend up.
Here's the layout of a clamp. I used 1/4" thick steel plate, and 3/8" bolts (grade 5).. Each 'clamp' requires 2 plates.. I didn't include a dimension for the distance between the bolts.. You can choose what's best. It's suggested that you keep the bolts as close to the leafs as possible.
I suggest using 2 clamps per individual leaf (not counting the largest leaf).. This means that if your car has 4 individual leafs per pack, you will need 6 clamps per side. On this pic, each vertical lines represents where you should place a clamp.
Here's a clamp in place.
