FORD GEARBOX TIPS & TRICKS

Complements, Dean Barratt

I have had a problem with the ford c4 gearbox as in the heat of battle with the engine revving the gearbox wont select gears until the engine returns to idle the way I fixed this problem was to have the abuse valve blocked so the fluid couldn't by pass through past the gears not a job for someone who doesn't know much about autos I also had the converter stall set at 1500 rpm as well as having the box kitted with a manual shift kit this makes a very good shift so you can get a good hit in and get away before anyone can hit you . The stall set at 1500 is so I can run the engine idle up without it wanting to creep when you don't want it to and so it doesn't bang into gear when I'm changing from reverse to forward I have done 22 demos with this g/box and only had my front damaged in a forward derby I've also had the same radiator in the last 5 cars where as before I went with this set up my front was always badly damaged. I would say that any other gearbox with these same symptoms could be modified in the same way and perform with the same results.
